Art Class

Regular price £9.00 Sale

Classes take inspiration from Orkney natural heritage - puffins, shells, butterflies, dragonflies, underwater sealife, birds & flowers. These art workshops are aimed at complete beginners to art. You will learn the basic skills needed to get started with painting.

The art room is right next to the beach with wonderful light & stunning sea views of the bay & towards Scapa Flow so you can gaze out while enjoying your tea & cake!

You will be using mainly watercolour paint, but we will also dip into a mixture of other materials & media. You will find out how to make an accurate measured sketch, how to mix colours & how to apply paint in various different ways. There will be a selection of different subjects to paint so you can experiment & practice with different styles.

Your tutor will provide lots of encouragement so you will quickly build self confidence & begin to relax & adopt a positive approach to your progress. Your tutor is an experienced community arts facilitator, trained & qualified in Fine Art to Masters level.

The group is very small. You don’t need to come to every session, just start at any time & come along to classes as & when you’d like. All sessions must be booked through the website.

A small selection of handmade crafts for sale are displayed here too, along with an exhibition of local artists work.

We can run an art class for your family group if you are here on holiday - just get in touch with your preferred dates & we will fix up a creative session just for you!

Access is all at ground level with parking in the nearby car park.
