Art Class: Come & Try Collagraph Printmaking

Art Class: Come & Try Collagraph Printmaking

Regular price £0.00 £15.00 Sale

We can run this class on a date of your choosing - just let us know your preferred date. Times can be adjusted if required, to fit with your travel plans.

Come & try Printmaking!  Here you’ll find lots of inspiration from our beautiful location - sea, shells, seaweed, birds, Viking legends - and we can use this to create some really unique art you’ll be proud to take home!

You will learn how to make a printing plate with your own design, then apply inks and use the printing press to run off some surprisingly beautiful original prints.  You’ll take away quite a few finished pieces and may get hooked on a new hobby! We are assuming everyone is a beginner, so don’t be worried if you’re clueless!

This session may get a little messy so don’t come along wearing your best party dress - bring a waterproof apron if you have one!

This is a fun session so be prepared for a relaxing, creative day in a beautiful location.

About the class:

This is an opportunity to experiment & play with tools & materials & to explore paint & materials.

It's ideal if you're a beginner, so don't worry if you're new to it all, but if you have experience, then this will also inspire you to produce some lovely work.  There's also time to take in the incredible view from the gallery in which you will be working - right next to the beach overlooking chatty oystercatchers & eider ducks in a quiet sheltered bay.

The session runs from 11.30 till 3, so please bring something for a working lunch which we will eat in the gallery overlooking the bay.

If you'd like to take a short scenic walk while you're here then you’ll have time to enjoy the beach which just outside & there is an easy coastal walk along the lane towards the lighthouse at Cantick Head.

If you’re travelling here without a car, there is a little bus which links to Lyness ferry & drops you right here at the beach. Buses also connect Houton ferry to Kirkwall and Stromness.

All tools & materials are provided. Tea, coffee & smiles are available all day
