Art Workshop: Inspiration for an Orkney SketchBook

Art Workshop: Inspiration for an Orkney SketchBook

Regular price £9.00 Sale

It's so easy to be inspired by the wild romance of the stunning island of Hoy, Orkney.

In this session we'll be looking at some photographic reference of the rich variety of sources of inspiration the island holds for creative art - birdlife, puffins, rocks & pebbles, shoreline birds, corals & underwater sea life.

We'll start by looking at some stunning photography & talk together about the different compositional ways you could make a start on creating your own unique art composition.  There will be a selection of mediums to use in a loose flowing style which you will find easy to use to express your inspiration.

No prior experience is needed & all materials are provided.

At the end of the session you will take home a selection of sketches for your portfolio.

We will touch on, or recap, basic art ideas such as colour wheel theory, hard & soft edges, mark making & medium handling techniques.

This is a chance to experiment with art ideas, materials & techniques with gentle guidance & encouragement in a relaxed, constructive class. You will work as a small group of six in a light, bright art room right next to a quiet, white sand beach with Orkney birds & wildlife.

Throughout the activity we will focus on constructive evaluation & positive feedback so that your confidence can grow & thrive!  There'll also be plenty of opportunity to take a break & relax with coffee & maybe indulge in some homebaked goodies while you look out over the bay.

Although all our classes take inspiration from a new theme or topic, we're quite flexible & you are free to deviate from this at will!

Your friendly encouraging tutor has endless patience & lots of positivity, is an experienced Community Art facilitator with Fine Art qualifications & training to Masters level & has exhibited her own work internationally.
